About CRUMB

A small, handmade device — and the belief that you should be able to understand the things you use every day.

CRUMB is a little open device you can hold in your hand. You can buy one ready-made, handmade and ready to plug in — or build your own from a free, open guide that starts from zero. New to all of this? Here's the plain-language version →

Technology should belong to everyone. CRUMB is open source and built in the open — every device is something you can open up, understand, fix, and make your own. Good ideas get passed on instead of locked away. Sacred utility: things made to be useful, and made to last.

There's a fuller set of beliefs written down, if you want them.

CRUMB is made by one person, by hand — soldered, assembled, and tested one at a time, not stamped out by a factory. When you buy one, that's where it comes from. When you build one, you're doing exactly what I do, with the same open guide I use. That's the whole idea: nothing here is a black box.

You don't need an account to browse, to learn, or to buy — everything is open. But if you'd like to share what you build and see what others are making, there's a small community of builders here.
